Julie is currently a Structural Engineer in the Civil Structures team at Arup in Perth. She holds a Bachelor of Civil Engineering degree at the University of New South Wales, achieving first class honours. As a professional engineer she has had experience in both the consulting and mining industries. Julie aspires to work in humanitarian aid and be on the standby register with RedR.
Julie enjoys giving back to the community through volunteer work as well as participating in charity sporting events such as City2Surf, HBF fun run, Colour Run and Freeway Bike Hike. In the past she volunteered for the Sydney Royal Easter Show, as a Yellow Shirt during O-Week at university, and provided tuition to Indigenous students at university.
Currently, she volunteers with St John’s Ambulance as a First Aid Officer. Julie plans to further commit to community health services by joining the Australian Army Reserves as a Combat Medical Attendant. She will begin military training this year.
Recently Julie participated in a Dialogues on Development tour in Cambodia with Engineers Without Borders. She was also involved in “The Build and I” in Thailand with Habitat for Humanity.
Julie immensely enjoys travelling, surfing, art and yoga. She has lived and worked in France and visited 25 countries. She also speaks three languages and is keen to learn more.
